eBay Victorian Mother or Lady is a 5 1/2″ porcelain shoulder head dollhouse-sized doll that was handcrafted by Massachusetts doll artist Marty Saunders in 1978, I believe. The backside of her dress is tagged “Marty Saunders A67-78 ©.” I believe that she is made to 1:12 scale. Victorian Mother’s porcelain lower arms and legs are attached to a solidly stuffed cloth body over a wire armature, so she is poseable. Her shoulder head is expressively painted with one stroke brown brows, blue eyes lined in black, a well-defined nose, heavy blush, and a rosy mouth posed in a pleasant expression. Her hair is wonderfully modeled in a Victorian styled up-do with an abundance of curls. She is costumed in a black and gray striped cotton gown embellished with ribbon at the shoulders, a black petticoat, and white pantaloons edged in lace. Her porcelain lower legs wear painted short black heeled boots. Previously owned by an adult collector, she sustains minimal discoloration and wear from age and storage.
