eBay Excellent Package contains four vintage HIRES advertisements, and four pages of HIRES history that includes great information and several photos of old ads and promos. The information pages were copied from a 1987 book titled: THE BRANDING OF AMERICA… By Ronald Hambleton. From Levi Strauss to Chrysler, from Westinghouse to Gillette, the forgotten founders of America’s best-known brand names. Buyer will receive two double-sided 8 1/2″ x 11″ pages copied from this book onto heavy light-gray paper. These pages are full of historic information on this product, it founder and early beginnings. All four ads are clipped parts of original magazine pages. They are original – not copies. As with any old magazine page, they show normal wear, with minor wrinkles, etc. The paper has yellowed on several, and becomes more brittle with age. Reverse sides of these ads have parts of other unrelated ads and copy. Following is information on each of these excellent ads: May 1901 ad from “The Junior Munsey” magazine. Actual ad measures 2 5/8″ x 3 7/8″. The clipping from page is a little larger than the ad and measures 4″ x 5 1/2″. The ad copy says: Cools the Blood. HIRES Rootbeer is a spring tonic of great value. It purifies the blood and makes rosy cheeks. It soothes the nerves and increases vitality. It gives a vim and vigor to the whole system. The copy says: For millions of listeners “HIRES to you!” …is a toast to good taste. And it’s “HIRES to you!” every Sunday – Columbia Network. The ad measures 5″ x 6″. The clipping measures 5 3/4″ x 6 3/4″. This one column ad is long and thin. It measures 2 1/2″ x 12″. The clipping measures 3 1/2″ x 13 1/4″. The title says “End the High Cost of Beverages This Easy Way. Make Hires Root Beer at home.” This ad is from “Pictorial Review” magazine, the August 1930 issue. In long copy it tells about making the delicious beverage at home for 1 1/2 cents a bottle. It includes a coupon where you could order a free trial bottle of HIRES EXTRACT, from which you can make 8 bottles of HIRES Root Beer. The largest ad measures 5″ x 12″. The clipping measures 6″ x 13″. This ad appeared in the April 30, 1950 issue of LIFE magazine. It says: Got a Minute? Have a Hires! Now that you’re all set for the Easter Parade…treat yourself to Hires! You can enjoy Hires most anywhere…at fountains…from automatic dispensers…or by the bottle. When you want refreshment, ask for Hires. It makes a minute mean so much.
