KYOSHO Maritime Classic Series Stream Liner RC Pre Built Wood Boat Kit 40615 Vtg — Does not include original box (this does not come with radio/receiver/servos, Kyosho did make a “complete version” which is part No. 40616), — Kyosho calls this a Pre-built “kit”, the wood covered fiberglass hull, trim, motor, shaft etc are prebuilt/installed at the Kyosho factory and the just the fittings and finishing details need to be installed. — NOTE that as this came from Kyosho, there is something that needs re-work, NOTE how the threaded post that would hold down the rear hatch over is about 1/8″ too far forward, that’s why the decorative end nut is not threaded down flush with the hatch (I show a photo with just the post coming through the hatch and you can see it is not centered). I had put a little back pressure on that metal post to see if the inset nut would insert into the hatch hole but the front of the underlying wood platform came detached on the front edge (I show that edge detachment clearly in the photos, in one I lift it up a little so you can see the separation and in another photo pressed back in place as it came from the factory…and you can see that even how it came it wasn’t installed flush to begin with). All that was holding that front edge in place was some clear wood glue. At the rear of that platform it is attached only to the rudder shaft post block, so what is needed is to detached that rear end from the rudder block and move the platform back about 1/8″ (you can see at the rear of the platform that is a slot for it to fit over the rudder shaft and how it is clearly not installed correctly from the factory). That wood platform is where you will install servos etc, it isn’t connected to the actual hull but to a another platform below that (see photos). When the glue on that front edge became detached, the wood itself was not affected, there is no splitting or splintering to the wood. — Another thing that caught my attention but not in a negative way was at the shaft end of the electric motor you can see a small wood brace that is angled out and not secured into the slot on one side, that wood brace is not loose at all and had came like that from the factory (you couldn’t even have that brace across the end of the motor because of the length of the motor), I believe that some of the inner hull parts are shared across other boats in the Maritime Classic Series and that on other boats the motor wouldn’t be as large as this boat (I show a photo of that so you can see what I’m talking about). — You can see that the motor and the outer heat shield on what I take to be the speed control has some finish oxidation (I think this kit is from 1998 so it’s about 25 years old). — The instruction booklet was still inside the original taped shut sleeve (with the decals, the foam stripping, flag), I decided to open it to verify that everything in the kit was present. — Besides the ziplock bag of fittings there is another sealed bag that has the windscreen, a servo arm, and a few other things (I’ve seen a few other of these kits listed and they both had the fittings in that same ziplock with red trim, typically companies like Tamiya, Kyosho etc would have individual bags with cardboard hangers for the different parts). — In the photo of the back of the boat you can see what looks like a finish nick or ding on the back bottom edge, I don’t know if that is how it came or if it was dinged later. Also note on the bottom of the hull you can see some grain cracking in the veneer, but that is definitely original to the kit (in person looking at the glossy finish at an angle you can see it was applied over that at the factory as there is age splitting or cracking in the clear finish. You probably can find other tiny or small blemishes but nothing inconsistent with how it likely original came (or possibly small nicks etc from storage over time). There is a little surface dust accumulation in the white plastic seat inserts etc. — The prop is in the fittings bag and is somewhat small (black plastic). There is a small catalog type brochure that has some photos of this kit and others, they show the underside of the “Harbor Star” Kit which has a similar small white plastic prop. There is a tiny photo on that same brochure page that show the top view of the Harbor Star kit with parts laid out (including the stand with foam edge protectors). The brochure itself shows reading wear with a lot of handling creases etc. There is another instruction sheet included that wasn’t in the plastic bag with the manual (a three hole punched sheet that has some basic information covering screw sizes etc. — The instruction book shows this at 745mm, I measure the hull at 29.25″ or close.
