The model of the detector is MICRONTA 3001 which was sold by Radio Shack in the 1970’s. This vintage Metal Detector features black plastic casing, an aluminium telescopic shaft, ear phone port, a sensitivity meter, and dial controls for volume, peak and ferrous/non-ferrous adjustment. The advertising on the box says this detector is “Great Family Fun For All Ages” and that you can find relics, coins and hidden treasures with it. It also says that it is lightweight and easy to use. Additional specifications on the side of the box state: Adjustable Meter, “Peak” and Sensitivity Controls Adjustable Shaft – Up to 36″ (91.4cm) 2-3/4″ (7cm) Speaker Plus Earphone (please note earphone missing) 8″ (20.3cm) Water Resistant Search Coil Lightweight – Less Than 2 Pounds (900 g) Advanced Solid-State Design As mentioned above, this Metal Detector does not have its original earphone. Please also note that there is no User Manual. Requires 6 “AA” batteries. I have tested the metal detector and all is in working order! What an absolute blast from the past!!!!! SIZE & WEIGHT With the telescopic shaft extended, the metal detector measures approximately 91cm in length. Detector retracts to 62cm in length. Unpackaged weight of metal detector is approximately 900 grams. CONDITION The Metal Detector is in virtually unused condition. There is virtually no scratching to the detector at all, including the search coil which is in brilliant condition! I have also checked the battery compartment and it is in perfect condition and even retains its original Q.C Passed sticker. The box has seen better days as can be seen in the pictures. The underside and ends of the box are the most damaged. Given the nature of this vintage piece, I would simply treat it as an added bonus that the piece has retained its box at all.
