VINTAGE 1989 “VINTAGE 1989 “TROPICAL BARBIE” CHILD COSTUME DRESS-UP (a Ben Cooper design) with BOX** Plus Bonus**TROPICAL BARBIE SWIMSUIT DOLL’S OUTFIT NOTE: The matching doll outfit was not part of the original boxed set CHILD’S DRESS-UP TROPICAL BARBIE COSTUME includes: This is a complete set in very good condition. (See description and pictures). The box shows some wear but is intact and includes the original tissue paper. (See pictures) Aside from the sunglasses (see the note regarding them), everything else in this set is in ‘near new’ condition with no rips, stains, snags, fraying, or loose stitching; scuffs on bottom of shoes, and all of the elastic is in great condition. Included in the box is:1- Cotton / polyester blend sarong (skirt with 2 side slits. The elastic waist makes it easy on and easy off. It is dark pink with multi-colored large tropical flowers and multiple ‘Barbie” words printed on the fabric.1- Dark pink, soft but sturdy plastic visor with elastic band to hold it onto head. “Barbie” name prominently printed on top of visor.2- Dark pink high heel shoes. For anti-slip protection, both the heel and the front half of the sole of the shoes have ridges, as well as rubber pieces that are slightly inset into the shoes . (See photos) The criss cross straps are strong but pliable, and have some ‘give’ so that they can adjust to thicker or thinner feet. 1- Pair of pink sunglasses with heart shaped lenses. Note: My daughter sometimes wore these without wearing the outfit. The scratched areas on the end of the ‘arms’ that go over the ears are from a strap with metal clasps that she used to hold the sunglasses around her neck when she was not wearing them. 1- Soft and flexible flower necklace (Hawaiian lei style) in pink, white, purple, and blue with flexible plastic spacers to hold them in place.2- Flower wristbands which are just shorter versions of the necklace / lei. The difference is that these are elasticized so they slip on and off easily; or could be used as a hair ties FYI: As noted on the box, the pink leotard that the girl in the picture is wearing is a ‘not included’ item. BARBIE DOLL OUTFIT: (an added bonus since this was not part of the original boxed set) Included is:1- Floral bathing suit with a detachable, elasticized shoulder ruffle (NOTE: ruffle can be left on the suit, or removed and uses as an extra adornment to doll Barbie as a hair scrunchie, arm band, ruffle around her waist, etc.)1- Side-tying beach skirt1- Visor hat1- Pair of sunglasses3- Different pairs of high heels that match the outfit These 2 coordinating outfits (one child, one doll) will be show-stealers for your little one as they dance and glide around the room. They are perfect for imaginative play and dress-up. The child’s dress-up outfit is style #3315 from Ben Cooper, Inc. which was one of the 3 largest Halloween costume companies in the US (founded in 1937).
